My 3yr old son showing symptoms of Autism

Posted on Aug 28, 2008 under symptoms of autism |

This video shows my son Dominic during a ‘happy hour’. He walks around in circles to his favourite songs as he gazes, he is also stimming very quietly. Please note he does this when he is happy or hears a song he likes the sound of…
And just in case you were wondering, he literally did go on like this for an hour!
Also this video plays sideways?!

    This is EXACTLY …
This is EXACTLY what my son does!! Music or no music. I’m having a VERY hard time getting a dx. He socializes with adults, but not with children (other than family). I’ve gotten 4 different opinions on his dx…OCD, ADHD, SID, & PDD-NOS (nothing on paper) from “the professionals”. He’s very high functioning, but I agree with the PDD-NOS. It came from the neuro. This is the first time I’ve seen another child do what Matt does! Thanks for posting. I have vids on here about our story. :)

    He is showing signs …
He is showing signs of autism. Repetitive behaviors, isolation. From what I saw, I think that what he is doing is sensory related, he is trying to self soothe by walking around in circles, b/c this makes him feel better-he does not have the communication to ask to turn the radio/tv off so instead he self soothes/stims.

    Hi again, It’s …
Hi again, It’s amazing how you can see a change once we educate ourselves on how to modify the way we interact with our wonderful kids.I am so glad you now know how to reach Dom. What I am now facing after 3 years of Autism specific education focusing on social education, to bring our boy into our world but always with the goal of mainstreaming, we achieved mainstream opening a new can of worms. Hope you are well =)

Hiya, great to hear of your son’s progress! I think we’ve gotten much better results with Dom since we stopped trying to work against his autism and let him take the lead, he’s much more laid back about learning now and is even saying a few more words :) Thanks for watching and keep in touch! x

Hiya, thanks for watching :) Thankfully Dom got his diagnosis this July - after his first visit to the psychologist on what was supposed to be the beginning of an asessment period. Still waiting on the paperwork but at least now we know exactly what his needs are and how best to teach him. Hope you’re well x
